In standard cut roses, each stem has a single, large flower at its tip. In climbing roses, however, a single stem branches out into several arms, each bearing a small rose or bud. This structure allows for a full and voluminous bouquet with a small number of branches; the buds continue to open in the vase for days.

How many days does a climbing rose last in a vase?

1. Cut the stems diagonally. Once you open the bouquet, trim the ends of the stems at a 1-2 cm angle with sharp scissors and immediately place them in clean water.
2. Remove the lower leaves. Take out any leaves that will remain submerged in the water; leaves that rot in the water will breed bacteria.
3. Change the water every two days. Rinse the vase, trim the stems slightly each time; add flower food if needed.
4. Remove wilting flowers. When a flower on a branch wilts, cut that branch off at the point where it joins; the energy will remain for the buds.
5. For boxed floral foam, moisten the foam with a small amount of water every two days and keep the box in a cool place.
